Well almost. We are so very close. Oliver struggles to load a spoon or a fork but the rest - the taking the spoon, bringing to mouth, putting in mouth, eating, chewing, handing back spoon - he can do all of that!
It’s only when you break the task down you realise there are actually so many components that you have to understand first before you can do the next bit. We have been working on something called “backwards chaining” so you scaffold the task so that Oliver gets something right and it’s achievable at every eating time. It has been really successful as long as we are consistent and do it every single day! Luckily Oliver is highly motivated by food. Go Ollie!
See video below of Ollie doing so well with his eating. He is very aware of the phone that is videoing him that is what he is reaching for... he also found it very funny when mummy kept dropping the pasta!
